Home Again // SideSmile Style

I had the best time being back in Dallas for Thanksgiving. It was great week of catching up with old friends and some new ones (aka Elizabeth of The Now Style Book, y'all need to check her out like yesterday)! One of my favorite parts of being home is being able to take advantage of the creek behind my house, where today's pictures are taken. How was everyone else's thanksgiving holiday?

Label Obsession: Tibi

Label Obsession // SideSmile Style

I have been just loving Tibi lately. I love the mix of modern and feminine esthetics in their clothes. That lobster silhouette dress is at the tip top of my need this now list; especially if you pair it with this tuxedo jacket. And don't even get me started on that full red skirt...I have planned many a party outfit around it in my head. You can shop Tibi's new resort collection in their online store or on my personal favorite (doesn't get better than free 2 day shipping)!

How We Wore: Fur Vests

Monday, November 19, 2012
This week I participated in a little blogger challenge to style a fur vest with Beth, Danielle, and Alex. I love each of our different takes and I am so inspired by the other girls styles. I for one love a good fur vest and think some much needed glamour has been added to my daily wardrobe since buying mine. I searched for quite a while for the perfect vest (at the perfect price), and finally settled on this one from Club Monaco. The quality is amazing and at $198 it didn't break the bank. PS: if you are enrolled in College, Club Monaco offers a 20% off discount on all merchandise to students!

Lately // SideSmile Style

Lately I've had this outfit in heavy rotation. Nothing beats the winter chill better than a cozy fisherman sweater and some polka dot denim. What outfits have y'all had on repeat?

Winterize // SideSmile Style

When I recieved this L*Space maxi dress last week I decided no amount of winter chill was going to keep me from wearing it immediately. Despite my excitement, eventually the reality of Missouri weather began to sink in. And then it hit me, all I have to do is winterize. When temperatures drop, we make provisions for everything from our cars to houses: a little insulation here, a little antifreeze there.  So why not apply the same idea to my wardrobe? So, to winterize my maxi I layered it with one of my favorite J.Crew button downs, and  topped it off with a fur vest. Boom boom shebang, me and my new maxi are in business.

Colorblock Platforms // SideSmile Style

These Diane Von Furstenberg heels (which I got on sale via the Shopbop Friends and Family Sale booyah!) make me over six feet tall and I'm into it. I think most gals would shy away from towering over nearly every guy in the room and I can't say I blame them. However, my momma always told me that "it takes a confident woman to be that tall." So I ask you, how can I say no to shoes with confidence built right in? Obviously I can't <SideSmile>.

I especially love pairing it with a diva red lip; lately I've been obsessed with this Revlon Color Stay lip color in Top Tomato

Black and Blue // SideSmile Style
Baseball Jacket: Forever 21. Metallic Sweater: H&M (similar). Skinny Jeans: 7 for all Mankind. Motorcycle Boots: Jimmy Choo. Bucket Bag: Alexander Wang. Sunnies: Karen Walker. Necklace: Jennifer Hoodenpyle. Bracelets: Lily and LauraBfrend by Monika. Rings: J.Crew Madewell, David YurmanAlex Monroe. Nails: c/o Julep.

Today I am wearing a necklace from the lovely Jen Hoodenpyle's etsy shop. I'm sure you all have seen the images of hand painted jewelry blowing up all over Pinterest and Instagram, but Jen truely takes it the next level. She painstakingly paints the most incredible vintage jewels, giving them new life. All of her pieces are utterly unique and I dare you not to spend an excessive amount of time deliberating which piece you like best. I'm already itching to add to my collection and have been eyeing this neon bad boy. I think it's  worth mentioning that this talented Texas gal is also a total sweetheart, and included the sweetest note with my purchase. You can check out her latest work here.

Cat Woman Unmasked

Friday, November 2, 2012
As soon as I saw this editorial on, I knew that I had to replicate it for my Cat Woman costume! At first, I was a little intimidated to just start free handing an eyeliner mask on my face (mere hours before I was supposed to be at a costume party without a backup plan). However, with a little liquid courage and the steady hand of my bff Christina, drawing on this mask was a breeze! First, I used Urban Decay's Shadow Primer Potion as a base for the eyeliner and to prevent creases. Maybelline's Ultra Liner Waterproof Eyeliner was the perfect choice for the mask, it stayed perfectly in place all night. Next I filled in my waterline with Buxom's Insider Eyeliner and topped off my lids with Chanel's Mirifique Shadow for a little extra shimmer. Et viola, a mere 30 minutes later I was ready to head to my party! I'm not going to lie, I can't wait to come up with another excuse to paint that mask on again. I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween!

PS. At the end of the night I used Kate Somerville's True Lash Make Up Remover and I was good to go.
