31 Days of Color with Ace

Friday, March 6, 2015
Ace Hardware has proved free paint samples. I was also compensated for my time and this blog post. All opinions and positions expressed here are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of Ace Hardware.

I have never been the craftiest of gals. My track record is littered with dozens of well intentioned projects abandoned, when I inevitably realized that I was in over my head. That being said the project I am sharing with y'all today is so simple, even I couldn't mess it up!

I stared with a fairly neutral color scheme in my apartment, and lately I have been trying to add a few vibrant pops of color to punch it up a bit. I immediately fell in love with the richness of this Adobe Dusk color from Ace's Paint Studio, and though it would be a great shad to paint for a container to hold my collection of perfume samples ( random I know - but I am a complete fragrance addict).

Step One - Gather Materials (Brown Paper Bag, Container, Paint)
First I put down the brown paper bag - this will protect from any spills especially during the drying process. Then I decided to re-purpose the glass container form my VDay flower arrangement for my container.

Step Two - Pour Paint Into Container
I tried to coat the bottom as much as I could, without going overboard so the paint isn't too thick.

Step Three - Distribute the Paint
I basically turned the bowl in my hands several times until the paint had coated the majority of the container. Just make sure that the bottom and about 50% of the way up on the sides is covered.

Step Four - Flip the Container
In order to coat the top portion of the sides without leaving any streaks, I placed the container upside down on the brown paper sack. This project is a waiting game now - I suggest leaving the container over night to dry & check in the morning.

Voila! Didn't I tell you that was going to be easy?! I think all said and done it was only about 15-20 minutes of actual work and the rest of the time was just waiting for it to dry. Sound off in the comments - what do you think of my DIY?

Cat Woman Unmasked

Friday, November 2, 2012
As soon as I saw this editorial on theGlamourai.com, I knew that I had to replicate it for my Cat Woman costume! At first, I was a little intimidated to just start free handing an eyeliner mask on my face (mere hours before I was supposed to be at a costume party without a backup plan). However, with a little liquid courage and the steady hand of my bff Christina, drawing on this mask was a breeze! First, I used Urban Decay's Shadow Primer Potion as a base for the eyeliner and to prevent creases. Maybelline's Ultra Liner Waterproof Eyeliner was the perfect choice for the mask, it stayed perfectly in place all night. Next I filled in my waterline with Buxom's Insider Eyeliner and topped off my lids with Chanel's Mirifique Shadow for a little extra shimmer. Et viola, a mere 30 minutes later I was ready to head to my party! I'm not going to lie, I can't wait to come up with another excuse to paint that mask on again. I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween!

PS. At the end of the night I used Kate Somerville's True Lash Make Up Remover and I was good to go.
