READY FOR SPRING

Monday, February 23, 2015

Today's post is a tad ironic given that there is a frozen tundra that is brewing outside my apartment as we speak. Sporadic as they may be, my focus is already firmly planted on warmer days. I am looking so forward to a season of sundresses dresses and espadrilles. Stay safe and warm during this storm Dallas friends!

WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?!

Thursday, February 19, 2015

I first spotted this dress on the streets of South Beach, while en route to some much needed late night pizza after a long day of pool parties, fashion shows, and boozing with Kristin. I usually am too shy to stop unsuspecting women in the middle of the street to ask where they got that...purse, shirt, etc. and I usually regret it. But this time fueled by my refusal to let another potential purchase slip through my fingers (and a pretty solid buzz), I was determined to get answers. She informed me that it was designed by Zimmermann and that I could find it at Scoop NYC. A couple strokes of the keyboard later and the dress was mine. So what about y'all - ever been haunted by not asking "Where did you get that?!"

20s Me | 30s Sam | 40s Heather | 50s Cathy

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the tea service at the Joule's Taschen library for the second time! This time around I got to go with all of the Chic at Every Age girls which made it even more fun. As usual my favorite part of the service was the dessert :) The tea is available Fridays & Saturdays at 2:30 pm and you can sign up by emailing  tea@thejouledallas.com.

WINTER TWO PIECE

Friday, February 13, 2015

My crop to rule of thumb? You're fine and dandy as long as you don't show your belly button. In the past I haven't always been exactly rigid on this navel stipulation, (aka if ever I'm feeling particularly in shape and just all around bomb dotcom), however for the most part I believe that this rule helps the look err on the side of classy as opposed to trashy. I thing the idea of a crop top separates combo appeals to me so much because there is so much more edge to it than a simple cocktail dress. If this was one piece because of the full skirt and floral pattern, I think it would feel far to stuffy & decidedly less modern. Where do y'all weigh in? To crop or not to crop?

WARDROBE STAPLES

Thursday, February 12, 2015

I've been in a bit of a wardrobe quarter life crisis. I recently woke up in a panic convinced that I had way too much stuff (which I do) and the immediately removal of all said stuff needed to happen IMMEDIATELY. Several hours later, with the help of two very kind friends, I had purged about 25% of my closet (most of which wound up on Poshmark) and organized all the contestants lucky enough to stay. Now that my closet isn't completely crammed, I can finally appreciate some of the more classic essentials I already have. Every piece in this outfit has served me very well over the past few seasons, but don't necessarily get the same credit as some of the more flashier outfits I gravitate towards. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love a good trend, but I think pieces like these that you can wear over and over in a multitude of ways are much more valuable.

So without further ado here is my list of 5 Closet Staples I think every girl needs:

Striped Button Down

Distressed Skinny Jeans

Everyday Bag

Casual Sandals

Statement Sunglasses
