I loved getting to hang out with the Alex and Ani gals last week at IFBCON. All of their jewels were so adorable and ready for the stacking. And I loved hearing all about their amazing their eco-friendly business model. Obviously we and make sure that the Bosco photobooth was working properly...over and over. Hey we couldn't help ourselves! I had so much fun posing it up with Sam and Bethany :)

Blogger Social: Jack Rogers

Monday, February 18, 2013

This past week I had the pleasure of attending the Jack Roger's Blogger social hosted at their New York showroom. At this point, the weather had started to turn on us - Nemo was in full effect - but NOTHING could keep this Texas girl from fulfilling her Southern destiny. Being surrounded by these classic sandals in all their preppy glory definitely dissipated whatever damper the weather had put on my mood (the pink champagne and black & white cookies didn't hurt either). I was amazed at all of the new arrivals, and it was impossible to pick a favorite. So, I narrowed it down to these three: Worth II Smoking Shoe, Georgica Jelly Sandals, Maui PVC tote. What are y'alls favorite pieces?

Some of the amazing bloggers in attendance include: B Soup, Style of Sam, Oh So Glam, Living in Color Print, Angel Food StyleCorals + Cognacs, Bows & Sequins, & the Southernista. It is always great to get to connect with other bloggers, especially when they are as fun as these girls! Make sure and check out their blogs and their recaps of this event as well.

The Flower School of New York was on hand to give us bloggers a few floral arranging tips and tricks. I only wish my bouquet turned out as well as our instructors! Thank you again to Alysa and Diego from the Jack Rogers team for such a wonderful afternoon! My only beef with you guys is that you made it even harder to get back out into that snow...SideSmile.

Glamour Cats

Sunday, February 17, 2013

I have a suspicion that any party guarded by a 'no bitches' sign is bound to be right up my alley. Turns out my instincts were right. Glamour Magazine hit the nail right on the head with their Glamour Cat concept shop in the heart of New York's meat packing district. From the fab feline decor to the mini kitty manis and eyeliner stations this party was the Cat's Meow. Party favors included adorable cat rings, feline tees, and American Apparel sweaters - Sam, Bethany and I made out like Cat Burglars (sorry couldn't help myself).

Runway Recap: Monique Lhuillier

Saturday, February 16, 2013

It is easy to take things for granted in this business. There is always another party, another conference, another show. You get caught up in the flurry of it all - did I get the right picture for Instagram, did I network enough, am I wearing the right outfit - and you sometimes miss the magic that is going on right in front of you. As I sat there, watching the models float down the runway, all of the stress and expectations of the week melted away. I was just a girl living out her wildest dreams at New York Fashion Week. Call me a sap, call me sentimental, call me whatever you want...but I never want to stop getting excited about  these things.

Get the Look: Hanneli Mustaparta

When I saw this photo of Hanneli it stopped me in my tracks. I love how she mixed the screaming green Acne coat (super affordable option here) with that burnt orange bag - not a color combo you see very often but she makes it work. And don't even get me started on those boots, luckily I managed to find this similar Sam Edelman pair for under $200!

#sidesmileNY Recap

Friday, February 15, 2013
I had the best time in New York. The. Best. TimeSam and Bethany proved to be the funnest roomies a girl could ask for. Despite our complete lack of sleep and food, we never turned on each other and managed to keep one another cracking up laughing the entire trip. IFB proved to be inspirational as ever, I particularly enjoyed Lisa Salzer's (of Lulu Frost) CEO talk. Meeting Kendi (Kendi Every Day) at the Styld.by Gap event was so much fun - she is just as gracious and gorgeous in person. I loved bonding with fellow bloggers and #emokittens Sarah (Living Goldie) and Jenna (Style By Jenna) over the gorgeous jewels and frocks at the Ben Amun // Dana Maxx event (their PR girls are the sweetest). Flower school at the Jack Rogers social proved to be a tad more difficult for some (cough bethany...) but was definitely one of the highlights of my trip - more to come on that later. I pretty much died and went to heaven at the Schutz store and can't wait to show you which shoes decided to come home with me. The last day was definitely my favorite day because it entailed going to Glamour Magazines #GlamourCat concept store, brunch with my favorite Beauty Bank girl Brittany (still dying over the goodies you got us), the Alon Livne presentation and Monique Lhuillier show at Lincoln Center, and finally sushi at Amber // dancing at Brass Monkey with ChristinaKristin, B, and Sam...We also may have made it rain business cards...Bling! I couldn't possibly fit everything that happened into one post so stay tuned next week for even more on my NYFW adventures.

This past week cupid did a little matchmaking and while he didn't find me a man, he did manage to fix me up with Helzberg Diamond. Now I don't know about y'all, but I'll take a date with some diamonds over a guy faster than you can say SideSmile. My favorite part about the new Infinity x Infinity collection (other than the fact that it was inspired by one of my favorite shows Revenge) is it's versatility. Be it a cocktail dress for Valentine's Day (as pictured) or a white tee shirt and jeans, this necklace is guaranteed to look great. And if it was given to you by a loved one (rather than your friendly neighborhood PR girl) it will serve as a constant reminder of their infinite love. Hopefully one of these days I will snag myself a man and he'll be smart enough to add one of these pieces to my collection. Happy Valentines Day All!
