From Zip lining in Kapaluah to whale watching in Lahaina, I am having the best time in Maui with my family! I cannot wait to share more in depth about my adventures from my trip with y'all, and get back to regular posting. Until then you can keep up with me by following @SideSmileStyle on Instagram.
Ok y'all asked for it and here it is: a tutorial for my 90 Second Teased Bun (as seen in this post). I know we all have those days that we wake up late, are in a rush, or just don't feel like washing our hair! Enter the teased bun, a hair style so easy that even I can accomplish it. I do NOT fancy myself a hairstyling specialist (I frequently defer to the experts and get my hair blown out before events and nights on the town at dry bar). Disclaimer firmly in place; I hope y'all enjoy this tutorial -- and hopefully a few more minutes of sleep!
Top Row: First Stop in Dallas? Dry Bar of course! // At FGI Dallas's Night of Stars Gala with the hilarious Elizabeth of The Now Style Book // One of the looks from the Lela Rose Runway Show at FGI
Middle Row: My mani from Essie Winter event hosted by the A Piece of Toast girls // Elizabeth and I showing off our manis in front of the amazing Essie polish wall -- I chose Beyond Cozy and Velvet Voyer.
Bottom Row: I had the best time catching up with friends over break; here Lauren and I are on our way to Uptown // Brunch at Neimans with the girls is always a necessity after a big night out. I just love those pop overs :) // And before I knew it, I was back in Columbia and at work...of course wearing my favorite black friday purchase.
Ps. Don't forget to vote for my entry for Lucky Magazine's "Show us your Bootie" Contest HERE! Thanks y'all :)
I had the best time being back in Dallas for Thanksgiving. It was great week of catching up with old friends and some new ones (aka Elizabeth of The Now Style Book, y'all need to check her out like yesterday)! One of my favorite parts of being home is being able to take advantage of the creek behind my house, where today's pictures are taken. How was everyone else's thanksgiving holiday?
I have been just loving Tibi lately. I love the mix of modern and feminine esthetics in their clothes. That lobster silhouette dress is at the tip top of my need this now list; especially if you pair it with this tuxedo jacket. And don't even get me started on that full red skirt...I have planned many a party outfit around it in my head. You can shop Tibi's new resort collection in their online store or on my personal favorite Shopbop.com (doesn't get better than free 2 day shipping)!
This week I participated in a little blogger challenge to style a fur vest with Beth, Danielle, and Alex. I love each of our different takes and I am so inspired by the other girls styles. I for one love a good fur vest and think some much needed glamour has been added to my daily wardrobe since buying mine. I searched for quite a while for the perfect vest (at the perfect price), and finally settled on this one from Club Monaco. The quality is amazing and at $198 it didn't break the bank. PS: if you are enrolled in College, Club Monaco offers a 20% off discount on all merchandise to students!
Lately I've had this outfit in heavy rotation. Nothing beats the winter chill better than a cozy fisherman sweater and some polka dot denim. What outfits have y'all had on repeat?
When I recieved this L*Space maxi dress last week I decided no amount of winter chill was going to keep me from wearing it immediately. Despite my excitement, eventually the reality of Missouri weather began to sink in. And then it hit me, all I have to do is winterize. When temperatures drop, we make provisions for everything from our cars to houses: a little insulation here, a little antifreeze there. So why not apply the same idea to my wardrobe? So, to winterize my maxi I layered it with one of my favorite J.Crew button downs, and topped it off with a fur vest. Boom boom shebang, me and my new maxi are in business.
These Diane Von Furstenberg heels (which I got on sale via the Shopbop Friends and Family Sale booyah!) make me over six feet tall and I'm into it. I think most gals would shy away from towering over nearly every guy in the room and I can't say I blame them. However, my momma always told me that "it takes a confident woman to be that tall." So I ask you, how can I say no to shoes with confidence built right in? Obviously I can't <SideSmile>.
Black+White+Sequins+POLKA DOTS?!?? DONE. SOLD. I just think this top from J.Crew is the perfect combination of sass and class. Y'all know I love a daytime sequin. These past few weeks I have been having some major black and white moments. I don't know what it is, but I just can't get enough of this classic combo. I especially love pairing it with a diva red lip; lately I've been obsessed with this Revlon Color Stay lip color in Top Tomato.
